IndClient-An Easy and affordable Solution for Villages
For the proper exposure of the FOSS(Free And Open Source Softwares),it is essential to to reach the technology to villages. But for establishing it requires resources like high speed computers, large amount of disk space etc .
IndClient is an add-on package for Linux that allows you to connect lots of low powered computers as a client to a janabhaaratii(GNU/LINUX based Operating System) . Applications typically run on the server and accept input and display their output on the client display, with the facilities for Indian Language Inputing & Displaying from the client side.
The idea is use of smaller, less powerful machines that rely on a central server for processing duties with user-friendly interface enough for the average user. Because they provide the ability to effectively share a single workstation among multiple users This cost saving facility can also be used in schools/business would save on maintainance cost.
By using any of these methods we can utilize the "discarded" machines which include older configurations like intel 386 processors, 32MB RAM etc, that don't require Hard Disks, Floppy Disks ,CDROMs etc. Thus this concept envisages development of technology to suit Indian languages, dissemination of the same, deployment into diverse sections such as mass applications, education, rural areas, infokiosks, cybercafes, e-governance, content creation etc.
