Based on the results and grades of the Higher Secondary / Class XII Board examinations, the Indian government awards up to 82000 new scholarships annually under the Central Sector Scheme of Scholarships for College and University Students.

PM USP Scheme 2024 Eligibility
To apply for the PM Higher Education Incentive Scheme 2024, you can review the eligibility requirements.
- Students must score 80% marks in Class 12th in any stream from the respective Board of Examination.
- Pursuing regular degree programs instead of diploma programs or correspondence or online learning.
- Pursuing education in institutions or universities recognized by the All-India Council for Technical Education and other regulatory organizations.
- The student must not be benefiting from any other scholarship program, including a state-administered, fee waiver program or reimbursement plan.
- Under the programme, students with gross parental or family income up to Rs. 4.5 lakh are eligible for the annual scholarship. Only new applicants will have to provide an income certificate.
- The scholarship may be continued or renewed by the student if they transfer colleges or institutes of higher learning as long as the new college has a valid AISHE code, and the course of study is equivalent.
- If they meet the eligibility requirements, students who neglected to submit an online application for renewal of their scholarship for the following year may do so on NSP.
- In addition to earning a minimum of 50% in the yearly exam, students must maintain a minimum of 75% attendance for their scholarship to be renewed each year of study.
- The loss of the scholarship will occur if the student is the target of complaints about any illegal or irregular activity, including ragging.
- Recipients/Applicants under the program are required to apply online for new or renewed scholarships through the National Scholarships Portal (www.scholarships.gov.in).
- If the application is sent directly to the Ministry of Education the application will not be accepted. (New or refurbished).
PM USP Scheme Rate and Duration of Scholarship
The scholarship amount for the first three years of college and university courses is Rs. 12,000 annually for graduates and Rs. 20,000 annually for postgraduate students. In the fourth and fifth year of their professional degree,
students who are enrolled in five-year programs or integrated courses will receive an annual stipend of Rs. 20,000. However, scholarships for students pursuing technical degrees like B.Tech and B.Engg. The scholarship will be given only till graduation, which will be Rs. Rs 12,000 each for the first, second and third years. 20,000 for the fourth year.
PM Uchchatar Shiksha Scholarship 2024 Allocation
The distribution of the PM-USP Scholarship is customized for each State Education Board keeping in mind the demographics of individuals between the ages of 18 to 25 years. Based on graduation rates, amendments are made for students transferring from CBSE and ICSE. Notably, female students are the intended recipients of half of these scholarships.
Ladakh has been allotted 3% of the total scholarship slots of Jammu and Kashmir, but Jammu and Kashmir remains a separate union territory. Scholarships for each state board are distributed in the ratio of 3:3:1 among graduates in Humanities, Sciences and Commerce.
